7 Days Longer Camping Safari to Maasai Mara, Naivasha & Amboseli

Day 1: Nairobi – Masai Mara Game Reserve
Drive in from Nairobi in the morning through the dramatic Great Rift Valley with a stopover at view point and Narok town for lunch to the Masai Mara National Reserve to begin your 7 days cheap budget camping tour. This enormous reserve is actually part of the vast Serengeti plains famously known for its spectacular great Wildebeest’s migration and is home of the Big Five: Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo and Rhino. On arrival, you will enjoy evening game drive.

Day 2: Discover Masai Mara Game Reserve
A full day is spent in Masai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives. This game will be in search for great predators and perhaps even cubs. On the plains are enormous herds of grazing animals plus the elusive Cheetah and Leopard hiding amidst Acacia boughs.

Day 3: Explore Masai Mara Game Reserve
Another day will be spent in Maasai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives.
During our stay we also have an optional opportunity to visit a village of the Masai people or an early hot air balloon.

Day 4: Maasai Mara – Lake Naivasha (Great Rift Valley)
After breakfast, you will depart to Lake Naivsaha where we will arrive in time for lunch at our accommodation. We take an optional boat ride. Alternatively, a nature walk at Crescent Island is an excellent way to see wild animals while on foot. The Island is a private game sanctuary, which is home to Zebras, Wildebeests, Gazelles, Vervet Monkeys, Hares, Genet Cats, Waterbucks and Giraffes.

Day 5: Lake Naivasha – Amboseli National Park
Depart in the morning after breakfast passing through the scenic Athi Plains and into the bush country of Amboseli National Park to continue your budget tour, home to the legendary Maasai tribesmen and famous for huge herds of Elephants. Lunch on arrival followed by evening game drive. In addition to Antelopes, Zebras, Wildebeests, Buffaloes and the rare and elusive Leopard, nearly every vista within the Park is framed by the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance.

Day 6: Explore Amboseli
Rising early for good views of Mount Kilimanjaro before clouds build up over the summit, we set off for another stimulating game drive in search of the herds of Jumbo Elephants, Wildebeest, Giraffes and Baboons. Optional visit to a Maasai village is planned after breakfast. Maasai warriors are famously known as the proud nomadic tribe whose legendary prowess in battle and single-handed acts of bravery in fights with the wild animals are known across the world. Midday finds us at our camp for lunch and afternoon rest, followed by another extensive game drive in the evening.

Day 7: Amboseli National Park – Nairobi
After breakfast in the morning we depart by road to Nairobi to end our budget tour.

  • Your driver/guide speaks English and has in-depth knowledge of the flora, fauna, landscape, and Kenyan culture.
  • A minivan outfitted with two-way, long range high frequency radio communications equipment.
  • Each minivan carries safari accessories including wildlife books, beanbags to support cameras on car doors and window sills, binoculars, a first-aid kit, an ice-chest, and a fire extinguisher.
  • Bottled mineral water during game drives.
  • Park entrance fees and game drives as noted in the itinerary.
