Special wildlife photographic safaris are available for those who wish to see the most spectacular sights of the animal kingdom including the wonderful scene of the wildebeest and other wildlife migrate from northern Tanzania's Serengeti National Park into the famous Maasai Mara National Park seeking more permanent water sources during the months of July and August each year.

 

LUXURY TENTED SAFARIS

Luxury tented safaris are available for the adventurer who wishes explore the unique experience of the african wilderness away from the madding crowd and under a canvas roof.

These special safaris enable you to partake of the luxuries and comfort of five star establishments in these remote frontiers and yet draw close to nature as your luxury tents are set-up in the wild from one location to the other.

The safari is tailor-made to individual tastes and the transport is a "four wheeler" with pop-up/open hatch for satisfactory game viewing.

 

GHT 952: Mt Longonot Hike- Full Day Trip

(Mt Longonot National Park is located 90km from Nairobi city on the floor of the Great Rift Valley. The mt Longonot national park is a popular park for hiking and mountain climbing that takes less than 3-4hrs to climb/hike up and down. It is one of the best adventure day trips from Nairobi. Longonot national park is easy to get to and has the best sightseeing opportunities and one can look inside the mountain crater.)

Nairobi- Great African Rift Valley- Mt Longonot

Depart Nairobi with picnic lunch boxes for Mt Longonot National Park going through the Kikuyu lush green highlands and then on the eastern escarpment of the rift valley system. You will make a scheduled brief stop at the view point on the side of the escarpment to enjoy the view of the Rift valley floor from a birds eye view. The rift valley system was formed 5 million years ago and the rift runs from the red sea through Ethiopia and Kenya and Tanzania. The rift valley is an active volcanic area and has some of the most interesting features including more than 8 lakes, dormant and active volcanic mountains and hotsprings and geysers like the Olkaria geothermal wells and Lake Bogoria geysers. You can actually see the volcanic Mt Suswa and Mt Longonot from this high place with their evergreen craters and the undulating green rift valley floor. The view from here is just amazing. Make sure to take as many photos from here as you can. Drop into the rift valley and arrive at the Mt Longonot national park for your Hike up to the crater. The hike requires medium physical fitness and you will climb through the gulleys that dot the sides of this mountain. You will have a guide and you can make some rest stops at the designated places on the trek. You will get to the rim of the crater and look into the awesome crater below. If you have the strength for it, you can go round the rim of the crater.
Picnic lunch will be at a convenient place then descend from the Longonot Mountain for the base at the park headquarters for onward return journey by road to Nairobi arriving in the evening to end your trip

 

 

GHT 953: Hells Gate National Park Excursion from Nairobi

Hell's Gate National Park Tour departs Nairobi at 0800 Hours with packed lunch. The journey takes a drive down the Great Rift Valley stopping at the viewpoint for photography. You then continue on to  Hell's Gate National Park to arrive at 0930 Hours. Once at the Park, you have the option of a game drive in a Safari vehicle or take bikes into the Park. Cycling in the Park is a great adventure as you get to ride the bikes for 7 Kilometers before resting at a ranger's post. After a brief stop at the rangers post you leave the bike and start a walking safari. Enjoy the spectacular views of the gorge. The walking trip or safari takes 3 hours. The hot springs and a fabulous scenic landscape besides the diverse game are just incredible. Walk back to pick your bikes and return to the vehicle for the 90 kms journey back to Nairobi.

Hell's Gate National Park special locations to view include:
Fischer's Tower, formerly a volcano's plug, the Central Tower and Njorowa Gorges. Two extinct volcanoes: Olkaria and Hobley's are worth a trip. Natural steam vents rise from fissures in the volcanic rock. Obsidian, a striking black glassy rock formed from cooled molten lava is a feature of this landscape. Game to view includes: Buffaloes, Masai Giraffes, Elands, Coke's Hartebeests, Lions, Leopards and some Cheetahs. A haven for ornithologists and rock climbers, the cliffs of Hell's Gate are breeding grounds for Vultures, Verreaux's Eagles, Augur Buzzard and thousands of swifts; 103 species of birds have been recorded in the Park.

Participants leave Nairobi at 8.00 Am. from Norfolk Hotel and return to the same place at 1800hrs on the last day.
There is Idyllic Camp a site at the off points whether rafting or not the following facilities are available,
Fishing, boat riding, bird watching, swimming for young kids, watered lawns to pitch the tents, plenty of shade, table and benches, toilets, and showers, fire grills, etc.
The excursion takes 4 hours but those willing to take more days can do so at additional cost.
Minimum group is four (4) and can leave any day
